Behringer announced refresh for their Xenyx series of compact mixers. Starting from very small Q502USB, Q802USB, QX1202USB, and moving over to bigger QX1204USB and QX2442USB, you might notice USB somehow sticking out in their names. This is because all mixers have built-in, bi-directional stereo USB audio interface, so you can connect it directly to your PC or Mac computer via a single USB cable.
Besides features all mixers have, there are mic preamps, XLR input(s), and very nice-to-have compressor circuit. While early to talk about it's quality, this feature will definitely come handy to podcasters and recording beginners. Having very good price/performance ratio, Behringer gear is definitely worth considering, but you might want to check specs and pics before you buy – just to be sure you're buying the right thing.

Seems like Technics will cease production of the 1200 and 1210 in February 2010. 1200 series turntables have been an obligatory part of any DJ console, however, with a large expansion of digital media, it is time to replace obsolete gramophone record with the MP3 player. Or so thinks the company Panasonic, owner of Technics brand.
Panasonic has not officially confirmed this, and the news comes from an Australian distributor who claims the last of 1200 series can be bought in March 2010.

Probably the most interesting instrument of the eighties is portable keyboards, shoulder keyboard or keytar (keyboard guitar). This unusual keyboard design has allowed musicians to move freely around the stage which is not the case with the regular keyboard . What was it like you can see on the concert footage Jean-Michel Jarre held in Lisbon.
It is not known what are the reasons that led the company Roland for the third time trying to revive this almost forgotten segment of the keyboard, but we have the Roland AX-Synth. While earlier models AX-1 (1992.) and AX-7 (2002.) were just MIDI controllers, AX-Synth is real keyboard with 128 voices polyphony. New model will be available in first half of 2009., more info at official Roland page.

Audio, video or computer systems suffer from common ailments tangled cables. A possible solution comes in the form of boxes for storing cables and multiple sockets.
Blue Lounge CableBox is essentially a simple box with holes for cables, more than a simple solution, which may not justify the cost of $30. Belkin Concealed Surge Protector at first glance looks more serious. The box contains more sockets, extension cord and has a cover to hide them. And all this at a moderate price of $50. A nice review can be read on Chipchick site.
